Michael, the number one Home Improvement and Repair Expert in Brigantine, NJ has moved to Myrtle Beach, SC. He was born in our State Capital Trenton, NJ. He grew up in a blue collar neighborhood populated with some highly talented old time Craftsman as his neighbors. Working in the Construction Trades as a teenager he discovered his God given talents for woodworking creativity, attention to detail, integrity, and structural dimension.
Michael also loves participating in sports and physical activity. He graduated from West Chester State College with a BS in Health and Physical Education. He also served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and received and Honorable Discharge upon completion of his duty. After the military he taught school, coached track and field and worked part time on his Home Improvement business. He says that as an athlete and an educator he not only developed persistence, discipline, and a strong positive mental attitude, but also included those principles in his daily teaching and coaching routines. Michael had hopes of sharing those attributes with his students and athletes. Just maybe some of that was absorbed by a very talented and gifted young man named Carl Lewis. Michael was his first scholastic track coach in 9th grade. Carl went on to win eight Olympic gold medals as well as breaking several world records. Great job Carl! Michael has always been proud of you.
Michael left his teaching job and decided to apply those same principles to his first love, Carpentry and Home Improvements. He moved to Brigantine, NJ where he had already started using his talent on a part time basis. In 1986 he was awarded the honorary title of Master Carpenter. It was awarded to him by a high ranking Union Official who hired Michael to do some extremely extensive and detailed carpentry work on a Yacht and Summer Quarters.
While spending over 35 years in Brigantine he’s serviced over five thousand customers since his start and also working for many past customers’ children who are now adults. He also did work at The Brigantine Beach City Hall, The Brigantine Museum, St Thomas Church, The Rectory, The Convent and the off site house. Also included are Radio and Television Personalities and Associates of the NFL and NBA.
Michael’s business has always been kept on a small scale with a 90% word of mouth referral rate, not only from customers but also other Contractors as well. It’s almost impossible to drive down a street in Brigantine where Michael has not worked.
As proof of Michael’s character, responsibility, dedication and a positive role model for his students he was awarded a “Resolution of Honor.” The 1980 Graduating class of John F Kennedy High School just prior to their 30th year High School Reunion sent out a questionnaire asking the graduates of that class to answer this question: “What teacher in your scholastic education process has made the greatest impact on your life?” Yes, it was Michael. He was invited to their 30th year Class Reunion as an “Honored Teacher” and presented with the “Crystal Apple” award on July 10, 2010 from his former students.
Michael is an Officer with the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, a member of the New Jersey Business & Industry Association, a former coach and sponsor of the Brigantine Girls Softball Team and volunteers six hours or more per week at St Thomas Church.
